The period around our ten year anniversary 2008-09 was marked by the emergence from the alto section to podium of our associate conductor Juliette Hooper and an anniversary concert in the Community Hall, when the choir revisited musical highlights and were joined by past members to look back on our achievements and successes including ‘The Wanderer’. In 2008, we sponsored, with support from local organisations, this setting to music by local composer John Frith and the performing of eight poems by John Masefield. The work is entitled ‘The Wanderer’ after the title of one of the poems. The performance was our first major Ledbury Poetry Festival event in the Community Hall. It was a great success, and extremely satisfying for the choir after the challenge of learning brand new music and working with an orchestra.
