Between 2004 and 2011, the choir entered local competitive festivals, most notably in 2007 at the Hereford Music Festival. We took first place in two classes, were judged to be the best choir in the competition and invited to perform at the gala last night of the festival. We realised from the comments of the adjudicator and strength of the applause just how far we had come as a choir since starting out in 1998. Taking part in competitions had ‘raised our game’ and exposed us to the high standards achieved by other choirs in the region. However, preparation for competitive festivals is all-consuming and so in 2012 the committee took the decision to concentrate on our support for the community of Ledbury and our regular concerts for our faithful home audience.
